When Daniëlle started making products as a hobby in 2017, she came across the product Babynestje on the internet. It looked so cute and fun that she really wanted to make it. She had made 1 trial product for old friends who were pregnant at the time. After making this product, she discovered that it was not nearly as easy to make this product, because it had to have filling, a mattress, cord and a lot of sewing techniques that she had not done before. She likes challenges, so she took on this one too.
The nest had turned out cute, made of owl fabric with a sweet matching blanket. Even though she had posted it and was satisfied, it stayed that way. People did not yet know what it was and the question "is it for dogs?" was thrown at her all too often. It was not until after 1 year that someone finally asked for a nest and she made it upon request. This time the customer had chosen a somewhat hipper print, namely chevrons in the color white with mint. These photos were an immediate hit and before she knew it she was making at least 2 a week. This was still a hobby and yet her reach had already gone beyond her network and so had the requests. Yet the question "what do you use such a nest for" kept coming back.
Nowadays, many of us are very aware that baby nests are placed in the playpen as a kind of flexible cradle insert. So that your baby experiences a demarcated feeling that feels cozy and safe. That you can also easily take this product with you and possibly put it on the couch or floor when you are having a picnic.
Now the big question is: "Why do you buy a baby nest and not a carrycot or something else?" The difference is that a carrycot is much larger, even when folded, heavier and often takes up more space. A baby nest is flexible and can also be used as a play mat if you slide it under a play arch. A baby nest is completely washable and can be put together yourself, so that it fits completely with the rest of your baby's equipment. For mainly the latter reasons, Mauties Mama has been allowed to produce countless baby nests in recent years. We can say with certainty that this is the best-selling product of our company.
Every product always continues to develop, and so it is with our baby nest. After producing the product for over 2 years, Daniëlle received many questions about keeping the nest clean. She discovered that there were many obstacles in the area of washing and the mattress bobbing. For these reasons, she placed a zipper in the model, so that the mattress can be removed for washing. She has posted a tutorial about this online in which she explains why this is useful. You can see this on the Mauties Mama YouTube channel. This solution and innovation has improved the product, but also made it more popular. In addition to this change, she also developed the cover band, which hides the strings and prevents them from getting tangled around the baby's feet. Apart from being useful, there was always a piece of fabric left over that is now being used well for this product. It is not only effective, but also sustainable, since all the fabric is used as much as possible.
The Velcro allows the cover to be removed and possibly turned around, because just like the nest, it is reversible.
