"The crafting all started with a knitting and crocheting course"
At my job at the time, my girlfriend and another colleague organised a knitting and crocheting course. Together with some other colleagues, we decided to join in and I started crocheting a poncho with some "loose" and "double crochet". That was so much fun! It encouraged me to look for all sorts of projects. I bought some crochet magazines, some wool and a set of crochet hooks. I certainly enjoyed it, but I wasn't motivated to actually finish a project. I did feel the joyspark of buying wool and I wanted to have my own room full of wool. "It's just so nice to have".

When I became pregnant with our daughter and I was soon at home due to pelvic instability, I finally found my motivation. I crocheted my own maxi-cosi footmuff. Without a pattern with different stitches and different types of wool. It turned out super fun, just not straight, because I didn't take into account the different thicknesses of wool, or the increasing and decreasing stitches. Oops.. anyway I was proud because I finally finished a project!

"Finally finished a project!"
This tasted like more! In the meantime the pre-labor contractions had started (week 36.5) and I didn't know what to do at night. So there I was with Gossip Girl on the TV and a new crochet pattern. A pattern of 2 double crochet, 2 single crochet etc. A crib blanket this should be with three different colors. Unfortunately this blanket remained an unfinished project. Maybe I will crochet it again in the future. In the photo below you can still see the yoga ball that I hobbled away the contractions with at night.

When our daughter was born, I no longer had time for crocheting, only raising Maud. I also had to recover after the birth and was very limited in what I could do. Eventually after a month I started to get bored again and I started crocheting again. For the toys I crocheted a basket from wool that I had lying around. The bottom is square and it is crocheted upwards in a round shape. This makes the basket stand well. The basket is also sturdy due to the somewhat thicker wool and "fastening".

When Maud was 5 months old and no longer fitted in the pram body, we started using the stroller. My mother-in-law (Moeke) was crocheting a beautiful maxi-cosi bag for my sister-in-law with the waffle stitch. She would line it with waffle fabric on the inside and finish it with "wooden rope" buttons. I also really liked this model so I decided to use this stitch for a stroller bag. I measured all the holes and crocheted the bag freehand and lined it with a fleece blanket (from Zeeman). I was very pleased with this result and had gotten the hang of it.

I was very pleased with this result and had gotten the hang of it. That's why I also started crocheting another maxi cosi bag that was also lined with fleece for the cold winter days. I had already made so much progress that it was crocheted and lined in 2 days.

Madelief saw my photos on Instagram and asked me if I wanted to give her some crochet lessons, because she also wanted to make something for their baby.

At my favorite store "Söstrene grene" we had chosen colors for a playpen blanket and a crib blanket. The crib blanket is crocheted from sticks with different colors. The pattern matched the wallpaper in the baby room. She asked if I could make the forest blanket for her, because they were two big projects and she was already halfway through her pregnancy. So at their request I started working for someone else for the first time!

Thank you very much for reading my blog!

Kind regards,

Daniëlle
